LéonDouble Sided UK Quad, Rolled, 30 x 40.
One of my favourite films of the 90s, it's hard to believe Léon is nearly 20 years old as it has aged so well. The European influence creates a sense of art house style that Hollywood has always struggled to mimic and I think it's the ultimate assassin genre film. Jean Reno and Natalie Portman inject humanity into characters that really raise things above the average actioner and although Gary Oldman's Norman Stansfield is one dimensional, but he's so delightfully OTT I can forgive him. The dynamic and exciting actions scenes are grounded with a sense of realism and Eric Serra's score (packed with soaring strings) heaps on yet more class. |
